Equilibrium of alluvial streams has been thoroughly studied in the past century. Many investigators have extended analysis to explain meandering (or braiding) of streams, and attempted to describe the hydraulic geometry of alluvial streams. This study points at the derivation of the characteristics of alluvial streams from fundamental principles. More precisely, this research aims to determine the downstream geometry of alluvial streams (channel width,...

Soil erosion by rainfall is one of the major sources of sediments transported into streams. The physical processes governing rainfall erosion are very complex and no generally accepted sediment transport equation has been developed so far. Various approaches have been used in the past decades to analyze sediment transport by overland flow.

Description
Midget cars might be small and light but they're fast! Originally called doodlebugs, midget cars got their start in 1919 in Los Angeles, California. Today, midget car fans from the United States to Australia and New Zealand love to watch these speedy little cars race. Midget cars were so popular in the 1950s that several movies were made about them.
10) Analysis of minimum streamflow and sediment transport in the Yampa River, Dinosaur National Monument
Author
Description
This study will investigate minimum streamflow and sediment transport In the Yampa Canyon In northwestern Colorado The historic sediment load will I be analyzed for the period of record for the available gaging station will I be analyzed for the period of record for the available gaging station Monument has been previously proposed by the National Park Service. This study will I examine that hydrograph and test possible alternative minimum stream...

A dust and deposition module has been added to the CSU Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS). The new scheme utilizes a global map of potential sources and parameterizes emissions based on model wind speed and soil moisture. This study focuses on the testing of the new scheme, with emphasis on its ability to accurately model the spatial extent of dust as well as the column optical thickness and surface visibility.

In 1819, the 238-ton Essex set sail from Nantucket on a routine voyage to hunt whales. Fifteen months later the Essex was rammed and sunk by an enraged sperm whale. Fearing cannibals on the islands to the west, the 20-man crew set out in three small boats for South America, almost 3,000 miles away. Three months later, only eight were left alive. This book shares a fantastic saga of survival and adventure, steeped in the lore of the whaling tradition,...
